Life rarely forms a closed, finite whole. Far more often, it resembles a process, a constant journey and a state of suspension “in between”: that peculiar condition in which one does not yet feel at home in a new place, while in the former one has already become merely a guest. I have experienced this state of suspension three times: when I left my hometown of Tykocin to attend secondary school, then when I went to university, and now, as I divide my life between Łódź and Szczecin. At a certain point, this movement and constant change become defining elements of one’s identity.

From this perspective, “Delineated Territories” constitutes a space of personal, existential experience. Each of us experiences our emotions, fears and ordinary daily life in our own way, a way that ultimately remains inaccessible to others. In this sense, we all carry a separate territory within us. This separation, however, concerns not only geography, but also the artistic media themselves. My territories are printmaking and painting. In my prints, I work predominantly in greyscale, while colour emerges in my paintings. Although these forms differ in their weight and visual language, the human being has always remained at the centre of both. The human condition, quiet presence and mundane everyday life are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me. I am not interested in grand politics, elaborate conceptual narratives or social activism. What fascinates me is the intimate prose of existence, filtered through an unexpected lens.

Art grants me the privilege of creating a world on my own terms, a world in which reality becomes material and imagination is the only limit. It is these boundaries that define the titular territory of the works presented.
